Please tell me you’ve seen that SNL skit. Do yourself a favor and go watch it right now. RIGHTNOW. It’s old, from a time when Andy Samberg could be found neither on a boat nor doing the creep. But it’s worth it.

I was reading in my new amazing book (What Jane Austen Ate and What Charles Dickens Knew) all about the gentry and nobility and the titled in Victorian England, and, yes, it’s enough to make your head spin. And it’s perfectly lovely. And then that charming SNL skit came to mind and I couldn’t stop chortling to myself over my Coke Zero and cheese snacks.

I love how ridiculous the social hierarchy was during those times. I can’t imagine the burdens associated with being born outside of the peerage. Or WORSE, being the younger son of a titled man. Or EVEN WORSER, being the daughter of a titled man. Such drama, such drama. It’s positively delectable. I’m gleaning so much knowledge to pepper in my book. Major shout out to Megan who recommended the book to me. It’s superb. I love being able to read and learn for fun once again. I am working on my book, yes, but that’s classified under “Fun Activities” in the filing system of my life. Does that make me a freak? Or does that just make me a writer…?

So, what did you learn today?

Ardently yours,
Lady Cubicle
